Im looking to take summer classes at my school and was wondering if you guys think this would even be possible...
I talked to my advisor today and she said the classes i need to take (to graduate on time)
in rank of importance would be 1. Mechanics of Solids 2. Diff Eq 3. Dynamics. This would come out to 10 credits. Do you guys think this would be doable? Or should I just stick with mechanics of solids and diff eq so i dont overwhelm myself and get a bad grade in everything? By the way the summer session is 6 weeks

Depends on your abilities and your needs.

I would pick one or two classes on your critical path (i.e., the ‘long pole’). Consider taking at least one needed general ed class; that would ease the load. My son has taken 3 classes (9 hrs) each of the past 2 summers, and each year one engineering class was canceled at the last minute due to lack of enrollment. That didn’t happen with the general eds.

His summer was 8 weeks tho. 10 engineering hours in 6 weeks sounds like a lot.

I wonder if those classes are even available in summer?

they are available, im just wondering how difficult this would be to get done in a 6 week span

re-read posts #2 & #3

I’d also like to add that most of the time you would be better served by trying to get an internship over the summer than by taking summer classes if it is an option. It will help you more in the long.

Summer generally moves twice as fast as a normal semester. If you wouldn’t normally take 6 engineering classes in the same semester, you probably shouldn’t be taking all 3 over the summer. Especially if those classes are pre-reqs and you need to really know the material. Depending on you and your school, you may find you have your hands full with just two classes.

Holy cow, were you talking about taking all three over summer? Why not hammer a nail through your weiner while you’re at it?

I would suggest dropping either dynamics or mechanics of solids…

taking all 3 classes especially over summer will be a pain and to give you an idea what kind of pain that will be you should look at the example given by tomservo…the post above me…
