SUMMER COURSE LOAD ADVICE

I am planning on doing summer courses, and i won't be working during the summer. I just will be focusing on my course. I was thinking about taking 5 courses split up into two five week sessions. It's 16 credit hours, and so far I've been doing very well in the regular semesters. Here are my planned courses:

first 5-weeks
Elementary Spanish I (online)
Intro to world cultures (on campus)
Introduction to Early American History (online)

second 5- weeks
principles of human communication (online)
Intro to social welfare (online)

I've spoken to my academic adviser and she thinks i can handle the course load, but i'm worried i won't be able to. The online courses are all open book tests so that's a plus. :)

I just need advice on my course load. Does it sound manageable for not working and just being a full time student?

I think if your adviser has said she thinks you can handle it, I don’t know that a stranger could give better advice, since she has seen your academic record. However, since you asked, I think taking three courses in one session is definitely going to be challenging. Since you are not working, that certainly helps. Have you taken an online course before? They can be more work than an on-campus class, and you will really have to stay on top of everything. You often have to “teach” yourself more of the material. And even if the exams are open book, they may be timed, so don’t underestimate the amount of work online classes can be.

Good luck!
