Summer courses to complete language requirement?

Hi,

I finished French IV as a high school sophomore and will be matriculating at Harvard this fall. I have not been able to test out of the language requirement, I am too rusty. I would prefer not to suck up 2 valuable courses with languages if it could be done elsewhere. Are there summer courses (abroad?) that I could take which would get me out of the language requirement?

Sorry if I sound rather negative about languages, they're just not my strong suit and I think they'd stress me out during the year. I could definitely deal with it over the summer.

Thanks for the advice!

Well, what French course would you be placed into? You could probably fill it with just one semester.

Yeah, you might be able to just take one semester and retake the test. You either have to take a full year of language or you can test out…but you can test out at any point, not just at the beginning.
