I’m a current junior in high school hoping to possible major in film in college. Some weird circumstances have made it so that I’m applying to summer programs kind of late, and I’m really hoping to go to a good program this summer. I’m going to a policy debate institute that ends July 11th, so that makes this a but more complicated (meaning no Emerson, NC, etc…) Does anybody have experience in this area and can possible help me figure out where to go? Thanks!
Op,
DD did advanced digital filmmaking at US Performing Arts at UCLA for 2 wks and had a good experience.
If you go onto the search portion of cc and type in summer film programs, there are many threads on this question.
Here is a thread that I started many years ago, when looking for a film program for DD when she was a soph.
Off the top of my head,
there are college ones that are expensive: NYU Tisch, USC, Chapman, Northwestern, and a ton of others.
Private ones that are expensive: SOCAPA, NYFILM Academy.
Art colleges that have summer programs: SCAD, Art Center College of design etc
Private cheaper programs: Digital Media Academy, ID tech camp, US Performing Arts (Taught by UCLA Film and TV faculty): these are good because they only last 1 or 2 wks.
Arts camps: Idlywild, Interlochen
Too many to count!
