Hi!
I was wondering what I could do next summer when I’m 16. Next summer I will be entering junior year. I’m currently volunteering at a hospital. What else can I do that looks better on college apps if I plan on doing the pre-med track? And are there specific programs/things related to medicine that you would recommend in the San Gabriel Valley/LA area? (Doesn’t even have to be only during the summer - even in the school year would be cool too) Thank you!

My kids did this in a different state, find out how it runs in yours, but if not this, there will be a gazillion variations. Your state is full of underserved populations, your challenge is going to be your age. MDA did use my 16 yr old’s because each client had 2 helpers, so they can use 16 yr old at a push.
Look up Easter seals if that is a thing in your state, they run something similar here.
In the school year, look up local respite care for kids, where I lived these were mostly little kids with behavior challenges (so don't imagine some Heidi esque Clara sick child scenario) for a parents night out. They were able to use 16 yr old's. Great service. It is nice to do service independent of your school IMO.
