Summer Help...

Hey, I'm a junior this year and of course dreaming of going to Georgetown.

I am going to apply to the School of Linguistics and Faculty but I want to do some things directed towards that school to make my application stand out.
I am an Iranian-American and already speak Spanish and Farsi fluently in addition to English. I have visited over ten countries, and was in AP Spanish Language this yer and will be in Literature next year. I am taking the SAT II's in Spanish also this June. I have many characteristics that display the "cultured" aspect of me which is something I know Georgetown loves.

I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on interesting things to do this summer geared towards making my chances at the School of Linguistics better.

I am thinking of doing a 19 day intensive program at the University of Salamanca in Spain, but I need some other things to do to fill up the summer.

Advice would be greatly appreciated

hey it sounds like you're off to a good start...i did ap spanish lit this year and was the only one in my class...I met the dean of admissions today at a reception for accepted students and he says def. apply to the faculty of language and lingustics if you're interested in language and all of those things that you've been doing will definitely make your application stand out.

Thanks a lot, it is good to know that. So you think I should do a summer study abroad program in Spain?

oh definitely!! It will be awesome preparation and a great thing to put on your application... I spent a month in Spain last summer but not for an educational program. It's a completely different lifestyle but it's amazing and it could make for a good admissions essay...I told my interviewer about the immersion experience and he was impressed. I mean anybody can write that they want to get into the FLL at georgetown because they're interested in language, culture, etc...but you have a way to prove it and talk about it so totally take advantage of that. i really think the reason i got into gtown was because i backed up my reasoning for appling to the FLL within the college. and you'll have an amazing time in spain for sure

i actually visited the university of salamanca it was cool but make sure you take a trip to madrid!

hey onemorning do you have an AIM sn I can talk with you

lol sorry for sounding super stalkerish but I am dreaming of going to Georgetown and I am defenitely applying to FLL. I would love to talk with someone who got in there and has experienced the entire application process.

If you don't want to put the SN on here I guess you can send a private message? not sure how it works though

I would greatly appreciated it!

no problem i'd love to be of help if I can...I know the position you're in and it's frustrating when people won't give you the time of day.
