Summer Housing

Is the frenzy for summer housing as bad as it was for fall? The housing for summer sessions opens up on the 5th, according to the website. Is this the same type of "stay up until midnight and get your priority number as quickly as you can" scenario? How available are single rooms for summer?

Singles are ALWAYS at a premium. With summer, you are getting numbers along with all students not just other freshman. Regular numbers carry over each fall, but summer is brand new each year, and opens up for freshman, sophomores etc at the same time. Not as many students on campus for summer, and usually the dorms available are the nicer east-side dorms. But yes, it starts at midnight. If you want a single, you best get on then.

Forgot, but remembered at 12:15am. Still got #86 and requested a single.

My S is currently a sophomore who started in summer. I recall he had a number in the 50’s and got his first choice.
Also he met his (later randomly generated) summer roommate in his orientation group. They had an excellent summer. I think summer is a great way to begin the FSU freshman experience.
