USNA STEM pretty hard to get in to due to number of applicants, FYI, and they take a while to notify so makes it hard to plan for.
@itcannotbetrue – Did you hear from USNA?
@MA2012 / @stargirl3 Gems is ridiculously hard to get into. It is first come first serve. I applied for my son 3 hours after the processed opened and he missed the cut off.
@laenen --Funny you should ask. We have not heard anything as of yet, so this morning I checked the USNA website. It said that we can expect to hear back on 5/1.
Did your son apply to it as well? Mine applied for the week of 6/12.
@itcannotbetrue – He applied last year. I thought given his background and the enormous family history in the Navy on both sides that he would get it but he didn’t. We reapplied this year and he got in.
5/1 is guaranteed to hear by date. If you seardh the history of CC many people hear much earlier. It is a rolling admissions.
He also got into GEMS. We applied even earlier this year and they doubled the size of the program.
Ah, rolling admissions. Thanks, @laenen . I saw that they were accepting applications until 4/15 and assumed that we would definitely not hear until next month. That being said, he applied within the first few days, and I am pretty sure they have only his school email. LOL! What if he “forgot” to tell me he got in? When did you apply/hear back? And do they send out rejection emails as well?
Thanks!
PS–we have no GEMS programs on the west coast, but I am seriously considering applying for either NM or TX if he does not (didn’t?) get into the NA STEM program.
@itcannotbetrue – the response might be by region or even age group. My son and myself got the email about 3 days ago. Last year, I think we got the denial on 4/30 or 4/31. In Natick, GEM III only has space for returning students which had a closed registration.
My kid got admitted to sailors program? It is awesome opportunity and thankful for this opportunity but we are wondering and comparing this program to other top math programs. She wants to explore as she wants to explore computer scince and or realted fields.
rising HS Jrs and Srs can attend Ole Miss Summer College for High School for free if they score 33 ACT or 1440 on SAT (CR+M). Programs include Engineering, Computer Science, Health Professions and Pre-Pharmacy. Partial scholarships are available for lower scores.
@itcannotbetrue – My kid got an email that she has been admitted to the sailors program. We are wondering how would you rate this program conpare to a prrestigious summer math camp. She is thinking to defer her math summer camp for next year.
@lakemath1234 – my daughter is a year too young for the Stanford Sailor program. We will apply next year. You will n we to let us all know how it goes. If you have to make a choice, I vote for Stanford
Has anyone done MIT’s MITES program?
@laenen – STILL haven’t heard back from Annapolis.
