I’m from the SF bay area and will be attending UCSD and majoring
in CS in the fall. I wondered if anyone had ideas for finding a programming
related summer job between HS and the fall. I have experience in Java,
Javascript, and C++ through self-study, hackathons, AP CS (self study),
community college. Familiar with project collaboration hosts github and
bit bucket. It looks like there are lots of research and internship
opportunities once you get rolling at UCSD. Any thoughts appreciated.
It looks like I have an offer from a Si Valley company before even getting started at UCSD. Just the fact I’ve been accepted into the program plus my code examples from past projects seems to have done the trick.
Did you actively look for jobs or were you contacted straight from silicon valley?
The fact that you are already in Silicon Valley is a plus. Congrats!
@fenixnoctis My dad has worked a long time in the valley and put out feelers to past co-workers and bosses. Two people wound up having serious leads and one was actually a manager with a position. I brushed up the admittedly brief resume and had my git hub link ready to go.
