Summer Music Programs-Piano

Do any summer music programs stand out as being particularly top notch for piano performance?

I highly recommend IU Piano Academy. D spent two summer there. Very happy and got to know a lot of high school pianists.

Look Into Intelochen Arts Camp in Interlochen Michigan. My son spent the summer of 2005 there and he declared it a life changing experience. They do offer scholarships and the cost is contingent on family income. Total cost was around $4,000 (6 weeks) w/ a $1,000 scholarship. In addition, he held a concert in local community and was able to raise the balance of tuition prior to attending. Good luck on wherever you decide to go!

Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro NC has a fine summer piano program.

There's a good one in kansas, International Institute of Young Musicians (IIYM). I went there, great great times. And the plus is, you can write your essays about music camp, especially IIYM.

The New York Summer Music Festival (<a href="http://www.nysmf.org%5B/url%5D">http://www.nysmf.org</a>) has an incredible piano faculty, including jazz piano. There are over 50 performing groups and classes, plus over 30 public concerts every summer. Piano students study with alum and current faculty from Curtis, Yale, Missouri, etc., and can push themselves as far as they want with the NYSMF program.

Aspen -- amazing teachers, amazing concert program, free to students, lots of performance opprotunities, reasonable cost.

I highly recommend that everyone check out Eastern Music Festival

Strong resident piano faculty and visiting faculty include Ann Schein, Vladimir Feltsman, Barry Douglas and others.

For ages 14-20... it is too late to audition in person, but you can still upload your audition on the website as part of the application for review
