My acceptance from Swat came in the mail yesterday. I was extremely excited and never thought I had the hope of getting in. Obviously, I'm seriously considering the school.

I am seeking some summer opportunities at Swat. Is it possible to work anywhere in swat, take classes, etc. for students that were just admitted? Is this recommended for freshmen?

There are campus jobs available starting the summer after your freshman year. I think it would difficult to arrange one before freshman year...and it probably wouldn't be the ideal way to acclimate to Swarthmore, since there would be no other incoming freshmen around.

I don't know if you qualify, but there is an early orientation program (called "Tri-Co"). This is a joint orientation, intended primarily for "diversity" students, that has been run by Swarthmore, Haverford, and Bryn Mawr for the last 20 years or so. It rotates among the three campuses on an annual basis. I don't know all the details, but I think it starts a week or so before the regular freshman orientation.

If it works out for you, I highly recommend attending the Ride the Tide pre-frosh event in late April. This will give you a really good preview of what to expect next fall. I think it really helps hit the ground running in August.
