Where would one list summer programmes like JHU's CTY? Are they an Academic EC, or something else? Should I just list it in Additional Information?

Academic EC I’d think.

If you look on a ‘preview’ of your common, you’ll find the section “List all other secondary schools you have attended since 9th grade, including academic summer schools or enrichment programs hosted on a secondary school campus” under Education.

Can’t seem to find where you input information for it myself at the moment.

Sorry, was having a brain fart. Go under the education tab, and look under your guidance counselor’s phone number. Check that box and you be able to input summer program information that took place on a college campus.

thank you so much, HONORLIONS.

I have this same question, but the box you speak of, Honorlions, specifically says “secondary school campus”. My summer program was at a university. I’m still not sure what to do.

Yeah, as I look into it, I no longer think it’s for summer programs specifically. I’m guessing we can always attach it to the application on that sheet? I have a feeling mine’s going to be pretty filled up…

I think it might need to be attached to additional info.

In the education tab, there are two places to list extra coursework. The first is what HONORLIONS mentioned, under the GC phone number (“If you have attended any other secondary schools since ninth grade…”). This is not the correct place to list JHU CTY (since CTY high school courses are held at colleges/universities). If you scroll down to the “Colleges and Universities” section, you will find “If you have taken a college/university course since 9th grade, check this box.” Check that box. Then, use CEEB code 5334 for JHU CTY (or use the lookup tool for whatever summer program you were in). List the university as the CTY site you were at (i.e., Franklin & Marshall College for courses taken at the Lancaster site).

Where dor I list programs that did not grant college credit, but were competitive programs held on college campuses?

e.g. LEAD SBI @ Penn, SUMMet @ Colorado School of Mines, SLP @ USC, MITES @ MIT, YESS @ CalTech, etc.

Could the summer programs that don’t give you college credit be listed under “academic honors?”

What about a summer program at a vocational school that I only attended for that one summer? I took a summer course at the Clark County Skills Center. I got college credit for it, but I don’t attend that school normally.

I just got confirmation from Common App itself. This is what they said about summer programs on college campuses that do not grant college credit:

“You may use the Additional Information section on the Writing page to share relevant information about yourself that is not captured elsewhere in the application. If you choose to upload a resume or similar list of activities and accomplishments, you should still complete the Activities section of the application in its entirety.”
