best days of my life!

I did Harvard SSP this past summer (I’m a junior this year), and I can tell you it was the best 7 weeks of my life. Not going to lie, the workload was really intense, but it was definitely worth it!

Have you heard of TASS? Or TASP?
Basically, they’re both six-week long summer programs. They’re highly competitive, and free! TASS is for rising juniors and TASP is for rising seniors.
Here’s the website:
[Telluride Association: Our Programs: For High School Students: Sophomore Seminar (TASS): General Information](http://www.tellurideassociation.org/programs/high_school_students/tass/tass_general_info.html)

^yah I was thinking of applying to it but I am not African American.

Miami is too hot in the summer. Ucla has an amazing program
Google search muskier summer discovery

I’m not African American either and TASS was a totally awesome six-weeks.

I feel like my particular summer wasn’t one of the best TASS programs they’ve had, but the people alone were great enough to make up for the slight shortcomings (and sincerely slight, I only meant it wasn’t as great as I’ve heard other TASSes of being curriculum/program-wise).

You should definitely give TASS a shot. Even if you decide not to go ahead with TASS you (EVERYONE) should DEFINITELY apply to TASP. That program has no focus on any particular subject (African American or otherwise) and is suppsosed to be absolutely amazing. But that’s not for another year.

For the time being, apply to TASS, look at local governor school opportunities, and… there’s a free program hosted by Carleton College as well I think.

I’d definitely recommend you stay away from programs that you can buy your way into (the People to People crap, National Youth Conferences or whatever other programs that all have the same look to them but are basically 4,000 dollars and anyone can get in even though they make it sound super selective). A lot of summer programs on colleges are also really expensive and non-competitive but some are still somewhat good, their hit or miss (some are good if you’re really into that school while others aren’t actually even supervised/coordinated by the university and another company just rents out part of the college over the summer to host a crappy program).

Good luck.

^thanks. I’ll give it a shot for sure.
@stalkermama- I love the hot weather.lol!:)

I very much enjoyed CTY for the summer after 10th grade. High quality, reasonably difficult to get into (minimum test score requirement). I would recommend it to any kid who enjoys intellectualism.

^I’ll try to apply for that.

What is CTY?
Could you give me the specific link you attended?

CTY is the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth. cty.jhu.edu

I’ve been to a CTY summer program, but I wouldn’t recommend it because it’s kinda one of those camps that moodragon was talking about (expensive, can buy yourself in). Another camp that is available to rising juniors is NYLF, which is another one of those.
