Summer Programs/Internship Recommendations

Hello everyone,

Hope you guys have been enjoying your summer so far.

I was just wondering if anyone could help me find some good summer programs/internships an international student from Asia (I am Half Korean and Half Japanese) that can fly over and participate in for summer break. I know it is a bit too late for the summer of 2020, but as a rising Junior with minor and insignificant extra curricular activities, I figured it’s better to start looking now to hopefully strengthen my application before the time comes when we have to submit them later.

While there are many summer programs and internships out there, I couldn’t really find any that are related for my field of subjects I am interested in.

Below are the list of majors I am interested in pursuing and hopefully to make use of them as a career. I have placed them in numerical order from my favorite to “regular/least favorites” (Don’t get me wrong, all the subjects I have listed below are subjects I am interested in. It’s just that within the list below I have a “ranking” for which one I want to major in the most)

  1. Physics
  2. Computer Science
  3. Astronomy
  4. Engineering

I was also considering a summer program @ NASA, but realized I am unable to apply for one because I am not American. I was pretty disappointed since I wanted to do something with Astronomy or Physics but I guess I’ll have to look elsewhere.

Anywhere is fine! As long as it helps me with my application, I am willing to fly around the world from here in Korea all the way to New York, London, even Moscow.

Please help me out!

Thanks,

@JoyfulPrince if you’re interested in physics astronomy and comp sci, I would definitely recommend checking out the Yale Summer Program in Astrophysics and the Summer Science Program! Both of them are really competitive (YSPA has like an 8% acceptance rate and SSP has around 10% I think) but they’re both incredible programs if you can get in and they accept international students. You can only do them as a rising senior. They also have good financial aid for those who need it. You might be able to get in without extremely standout extracurriculars if you are able to show your passion through amateur activities and through your writing. Feel free to pm me for more info!
