Summer Programs that are interesting, fun, and add value to a prospective math/physics/computers guy

Pretty much what the title says. What do you guys know about for someone who loves math, physics and computer science?

Hopefully, something fun and that adds value to college apps. I’m aiming for the Ivies. Probably something research oriented.

Thanks!

I will anxiously follow this thread as you have just named my sophomore’s three areas of interest. I think he would find more options if we lived near San Francisco or Boston or even close to a college town.

Many universities offer summer programs, but they are usually residential and fairly expensive ($6000+ for three weeks).

I’ve seen a couple MIT programs that are free, and have immediately applied to those. Just google MIT summer programs and you should find it. The deadline is Feb 4 though, so you should hurry up.

And if anyone else knows other programs that would fit the tag, I’d really appreciate it.

Perhaps I missed something with MIT, but I thought their programs were all targeted at specific groups, and my son was not a member of any of them: MITES, WTP, RSI (open to HS Jrs), and MIT Launch doesn’t sound like it would be his thing.

Well I applied to RSI since I’m in junior year, and MITES, true its for targeted groups, but no harm in applying since there are no application fees anyway.

I hope it works out for you! If you think of it, please post your results here. Son will definitely consider RSI for next year. Good luck!

RSI a only accepts one student from each state so have some backup plans.

Yeah, I’ve been looking at SUMAC and MathCamps. Do you know about any others?

Some of the for-pay, residential research programs at universities have good financial aid if you might be eligible for that.

I’ve looked at a couple and applied for those. Do you know of any others beyond RSI, SSP, SUMAC and MathCamps?
