Are there any good summer programs that don't need any more than ONE or TWO teacher recommendations required for entry? I typically am only close to a few teachers and I don't want to ask them to write a recommendation for me multiple times especially if I want to apply to a couple summer programs and then later several colleges. It's also because I tend to think of asking for recommendations as "credits", sooner or later you'll run out if you ask for too many!

I don't know of any summer programs that ask for more than 2 recommendations... I applied and got into Advanced Creative Writing at Columbia this summer, and they only asked for 2 recommendations.

I don't see why you would need more...

Okay then, thanks for the input! Are they any that require just 1 then? Or none at all, but require an essay or something?

The good ones usually require both recommendations and an essay.

Usually, if you have enough money, you can go to the summer programs that don't require recommendations. They're not usually so good...

Even the summer programs that are easy to get into, like ASA or Discovery make you send in recommendations.

Applying to summer programs is only slightly less stressful than applying to schools.

Hmmm. Then are there any where someone could apply just once, and if they get in they won't need to apply in subsequent years if they want to go again? I know that programs that are like these might be either not very good or costly though. CTY was like that, I think, because they kept sending me brochures of their classes after I attended.

For Brown Summer Programs you only need one

Really? Thanks ZAk, I'll look into that.
