Hey, ak2018! Thanks for the awesome list of summer programs. Here’s one to add to it: Pioneer Academics (www.pioneeracademics.com). Students I’ve talked to say it’s amazing. You do one-on-one research with university professors from great schools, and get college credit, too. Not sure when summer applications begin.
pioneer academics looks cool, does anyone know what its cost is? the website’s super vague about that
@coronaa yea, i think it’s really cool and would really want to be involved in it too. i think the website says that you have to contact someone thru email to discuss pricing but i’m not really sure.
@coronaa i just checked the website again and it said “Please contact a Pioneer representative for more complete program info” so i guess you would just have to do that
@ak2018 Also add to your list the Yale Summer Program in Astrophysics, http://yspa.yale.edu . It’s not affiliated at all with Young Global Scholars, which is in your list.
Does the Pioneer website have an email address you can write to to get the information you need? I’d do that to get your questions about cost answered. They’ll likely tell you what you get for the cost, which is what you need to know to make a good choice. If they don’t, move on!
If you get accepted into one of these programs, but cannot make it due to a schedule conflict, does mentioning your acceptance on your application look good, or should you not bother?
@MeanestBean you shouldn’t bother. They can’t check whether or not you were accepted, only if you attended. Therefore, anyone could lie at any point and say they were accepted but chose not to go. Which brings up a whole new set of questions— specifically: why sign up when you can’t go?
Also if anyone knows— when is the deadline for pioneer academics?
@MangoLover11223 I was wondering for the circumstance in which you get accepted to multiple programs but must choose one. Thank you for the response!
@MeanestBean no problem!
I think the Pioneer application deadline for the spring term is closed, but they have a summer term, if you’re interested. Knock out an email to them for the info you need.
@Chocolate-Taco thanks! Do you also know how much it costs because I can’t find that on their website.
I’m looking for some kind of government internship for high schoolers or any medical/science programs that actually look prestigious to colleges
LagBeach 101: How’s it going? Have you found any med/science programs? Why those?
@MangoLover11223 Sorry, I don’t know how about costs. Whatever you find out, match it up to what you think you’ll get out of it.
Hello everyone! Does anyone happen to know about any programs regarding government/ international affairs, law, history, or language? These seem to be quite rare, and if I do happen to find one, it’s always expensive. Thank you!
@batman0309 hey! i’m not sure about the application due dates and such, but i do know that there are senate page programs! pretty sure they vary by state but ik that washington state has one with sen murray (but he only selects one per year) or something like that. good luck searching!
There’s the Yale Young Global Scholars that have courses in these areas, but deadline was Feb 6th. And you might want to check out summer@Brown and Columbia
@batman0309 You might look into the research program at Pioneer Academics. They have a cool online summer program. You do research in a field of your choice (like the ones you mentioned) under a university professor. In the end, you get an evaluation from the professor that you can include with your college application, and college credit, too…
