Summer Programs That Look Good on College Applications

I just got into the Frontiers program!!

@birdbear Congratulations! I checked out the website but can’t find the price. Do you know how much it costs?

Thanks, it costs 3,000. I’m lucky that my grandparents are paying

Has anyone participated in the UC Irvine School of Medicine Online Research Program? I am wondering if it is a good program being it is online and will it help my CV look good when I apply to straight med school 6-7-8 year med school programs? The cost is $1900 so it isnt cheap. I would appreciate any input!

What are the most prestigious summer programs focused on computer science for rising senior? (Outside of RSI) Thanks!

Are governors schools limited to state residents, or are they open to other states/international students?

I’m pretty sure they’re state-funded (mostly), state-specific programs for the state’s students.

"Are there any art programs she should consider applying to? "

Carnegie Mellon’s Art, Architecture, Drama, Music, and Design camps are the real deal.

D20 just found out she got Governor’s School. It’s 6 weeks this summer. About half the states have them, and some are better than others, but if you’re a sophomore or younger, it’s worth looking into.

Has anyone heard of the Future Latino Leaders Law Institute in DC?

if you have to choose between Notre Dame Leadership seminar and LBW, where would you go?

Are there any prestigious summer programs with late deadlines, still available to apply to this summer? Areas could include technology, science, medicine, photography or others? West coast preferred but not required – thanks

@tigerbeat the adroit mentorship is still open for creative writers (& it’s free/online), but it feels like maybe not conducive to your interests. http://theadroitjournal.org/mentorship

also, seems like graduates do well with college, https://theadroitjournal.org/mentorship-college
“Over 65% of mentorship graduates have matriculated at Ivy League universities, Stanford, UChicago, or Oxbridge.”

Has anyone heard about this summit for young leaders in Athens, Greece this July? It’s hosted by a group of Oxford University professors. Apparently the top students can get letters of recommendation from some of these professors. Seems like a fun conference but not sure if anyone has gone to their events in the past?

“ if you’re a sophomore or younger, it’s worth looking into.”

Check your state’s program. The Pennsylvania Governor’s School for the Sciences is post-junior year.

can someone rank ISSYP, WTP, MITES, PGSS (pennsylvania governor’s school), and clark scholars in order of prestige/ which ones look best on college apps?

Anyone have input on COSMOS?

Specifically UCD Cluster 4, I got accepted to that

USC Bovard Scholars vs UPenn’s LBW? I live an hour away from LA so transportation is not an issue, although my heart yearns to see UPenn because I want to major in Econ and I know Wharton is one of the best econ schools out there.

Both are great programs but I would go to Bovard Scholars. It’s much more convenient for you both in location and cost (it’s free vs. $7000 something). I don’t think LBW is selective enough to make it worth it.
