I will be a senior in the fall and we just got our summer reading assignment. What are your thoughts on "Pilgrim's Progress"? That is our required book. We also have to read a second book but get to choose from three books for the second book. The 3 choices for the 2nd book are "Pride and Prejudice", "Brave New World", and "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde". What are your thoughts on those three and which would you recommend?

My first thought is that you go to a Christian school?

The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is very short, so I’d recommend that if you plan to procrastinate this summer. Brave New World is also interesting, if you like futuristic dystopian novels written in the 1930s. I’ve never read Pride and Prejudice.

LOL. Christian school was my first thought as well. You should read them all; they are all very good.

Thanks for your suggestions, I might read Brave New World. You are right, I do go to a Christian school, lol!

Dr jekyll sucks. We read it in 6th grade

Bump

Read Brave New World, Its “Okay” in my opinion but thats just me

Of the three, Brave New World was the most interesting to me.

If you like philosophy in any way, Brave New World is a must read. From my experience, a lot of artistic types tend to like it as well for the specific ideas it portrays.

Brave New World is awesome!

Pride and Prejudice
and also vanity fair

Go with Jekyll/Hyde. I read it as a kid, and it wasn’t bad. I also remember reading some Korean chick lit version of it in elementary school… go figure… those are some dark, dark, embarrassing days, but I digress.

Brave New World I haven’t read yet, so I don’t feel qualified to comment on it, but it’s been on my bucket list for a while now. Along with like 50 other books but that’s ok

Pride & Prejudice is a mess imho. I mean let’s all respect personal opinions and tastes or whatever but personally, I wasn’t a fan. I mean it has merit since it was one of the first of its kind, but tbh that’s the only merit it should get LOL. If you’ve ever read any glaringly terribad shoujo mangas as a kid/watched any k-dramas that follow the “people who hate each other end up in love” archetype, you’ve pretty much achieved the same thing as reading P&P.
