summer school

do not take ls1 and ls2 during the same summer session. you WILL die. separately its doable. also, do not take ls2 and physics 6a at the same time.

Well if i take 24, i graduate at the end of Fall 07. Which i need to do. otherwise i have to stay for spring. .. which i dont want to do.

would anyone recommend taking chem cl over the summer?

wow 24 units in a summer... dont expect to be doing anything but studying.

i am going to be working as well.

i know this is kinda early but would you guys recommend taking chem 14C with lab CL. because if i dont take it in spring, i'm planning to take it over summer but i prefer not to if its doable/reasonable to take it in s pring with chem 14C

How about language intensives? I'm thinking about taking both Arabic and Chinese... Is it better to fulfill other GEs at local CCs?

do they let you get credit for cc courses you take during the summer? im thinking of taking my math courses during the summer....
and are the grades transferable?

Yes you can cross enroll during the summer..... no the grades are not transferable, you just get unit & subject credit.

so for ex: econ requires 31a, 31b..i can just take those at cc and get credit for it?

yes .....

look at assist.org to see what course at your CC is equivalent to that course at UCLA.

kind of another type of question: but does anyone know if lsac takes into account community college grades, even if you took the courses during the summer?

o and thanks for the answers...i can always depend on cc :)

Are there no Discussion Sections in summer for courses that usually do have discussoin section?

[/quote]

There'd likely be more than the usual. For example, a MTF math class would have lectures MTWRF, with discussions on TR.

I believe they do not allow concurrent enrollment in those at a CC. But check on assist / send summer equivalence form to see if you can transfer 31A credit.

would anyone recommend taking chem cl over the summer? how about taking chem 14 c with lab during spring instead?

Yes LSAC takes into account ALLLLLLLLLLLL grades, including CC.

I transfered the equivalency of 31a and b from CC to UCLA, 31a was taken over the summer at my CC but it was not cross enrollment.

As long as the course is listed on ASSIST. you will get credit for it.

I found out from other UCLA students that classed DO NOT have discussions usually in the summer. THe person i was talking to about this took well over 40 units in his summers at UCLA, and so far , not a single discussion.... this person is a poli sci/ anthro major.

Ohh and another thing in case anyone cares, if you want to double major , and minor, and need to go over your unit max of 214 units, you can easily do it as long as you take lots of classes over the summer and still graduate in a timely fashion.

That person majoring in anthro/poli sci, already has 240 Units..... he is a senior right now, but with 2 quarters left...... he went well well well over the limit of 214 .. but since he is graduating in 4 years, they are allowing it.

That person is a North Campus student. :) Most sciences and math (or maybe all) will have discussions in the summer.

yes true, i am also north campus, and none of mine have discussion, so i was talking to another north campus person about it.

its sooo odd how divided ucla is .

i just changed to north campus, and i love it, just the campus it self, i think south campus is ugly and not convinient.

oh noooo. we lost another one!

North Campus is a farther walking distance from the dorms (Bunche, Dodd, Public Policy, Melnitz!)

compared to (Boetler Hall!, MS, Young, LaKretz)
