summer school

for those who have taken summer school at ucla..

how many classes/units are recommended?

i didn't really get much help from the search function

thanksss

Oh, and how much aid do we usually get?

i've heard that 2 classes is generally equivalent to a full load during a normal quarter. if you're working alot or want to relax more over teh summer, 1 class.

I recommend 2 courses per session.

Has anyone does a cross-campus summer enrollment? e.g. like taking a class here at Cal. Do UCLA allows it and do u recommend doing it.

UCLA does allow it but, I've never done so primarily b/c the closest UC to me is UCLA... However, if you're closer to say Cal (and won't have to pay for university housing,) I'd say go for it as long as the classes are transferable.

You need about 12 units to be a full time student. 8-11 to be a 3/4 time student.

(if i remember correctly)

in the summer as well?

I was wondering the same thing

Summer full time is 6 units ... that is howyou get full aid. You need to have 6 units within the 3 sessions.. you can do like 4 units in one session and 2 units in another session.

for aid, check out the current "forms" tab on FAO, and there will be a summer aid brochure.

this is a little off topic, but is chemistry offered at ucla during the summer? It isn't in the catalog thing (registrar's website) yet.

apparently the only chem class offered this summer is chem 14a... so says the schedule of classes when i checked

momca25, I've never done it, but my friend did it at UCI. He recommends it, because the credits transfer perfectly and it's easier there. Plus, since he lives near the area, he doesn't have to pay for housing.

Chem 30B and Chem 153a were offered last summer. I think the full schedule for chem dept isn't ready yet.

^

I think I'll stay home and go to UCI for the summer then. Moreover, I (possibly) have an internship lined up in the area.

what are the best lowerdiv bio major CLASSES TO TAKE OVER THE SUMMER???! OBVIOUSLY NOT LS SERIESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

i was actually planning to take LS 1 and 2 over this summer... is it really a bad idea?

i was planning to take ls 2 and physics 6a

Are there no Discussion Sections in summer for courses that usually do have discussoin section?

I need to take IDS 100A and M100B and so far it shows no discussion section, but for FALL for 100A, it did show a discussion section.

I plan on taking 24 units this summer, is that not doable?

Session A
IDS 100A
IDS M100B
Ethnomusicology 113

Session B
Poli Sci 50
Geography Upper DIv
Other Upper div (not sure yet)

24 units?!?!
RIP...
