No, sorry, by proctor I meant RA (R for residential). Commuters aren't staying in the dorms so obviously they don't get assigned RAs. You can sign up for any social or athletic events you want yourself. Commuters are branded into their own category, so if many commuters participate and win intramurals, then "Commuters" win and not "Weld" or any other dorm.

I would imagine it's extremely easy to get into the program. You don't necessarily have to sign up asap either... I mean, I found out about SSP on June 1, apps were due June 4, and I submitted it on June 4. lol Then a couple days later, I checked the site to make sure all my stuff had gotten in, and lo and behold I'd been accepted! I didn't even have SATs or anything by that point, so I figured they just accepted everybody.

But then my friends at the summer school informed me that people who had gotten in last year didn't get in this year...so who knows?

Yeah it's like a mini-college app. Essays (more like short answer), rec from teacher and GC, transcript, SAT scores (requested but not required)... It takes like five minutes altogether.

I was thinking about applying too! I want to take Multivariable Calc, but I can't think of another course to take, since we need 8 credits. I want something pretty easy (or at least not too much work)...any suggestions? I was thinking maybe psych...would that be too hard, or is there anything else that would complement that?

yo snuff - i was in Adams house (remember how peeps were getting kicked out left and right???) - do you know who was having the relationship with the proctor because i think it was my proctor - please tell me if you know what dorm it was in for that

It is very much true that alcohol use is not tolerated and grounds for immediate removal from the program. In some cases, students were packed and moved out the same day. There is an equally strict policy on academic dishonesty (this carries over from the College); you might not think of something as plagiarism, per se, but assuredly even loose paraphrasing that retains the structure of the source text is treat as seriously as copying verbatim a paragraph from an Internet paper mill.

The classes are considerably easier than term-time ones. Every proctor got a free class out of the deal and it would probably be uniformly agreed that, notwithstanding into the accelerated pace, one could get by with about third of the absolute time commitment for a term-time class. And one can get away with turning in seriously sub-par work.

So keeping in mind that the academics are not terribly rigorous, almost every student I know who attended had a great time. Each proctor organizes study breaks and the like for his or her entryway/floor/proctor group; some proctors do a better job than others. In terms of programming, there are not very many organized activities or clubs (the day trips and college visits are not a good value in many people's opinion). You make friends quickly and it was not my impression that anyone was ever bored.
