Assuming you apply in the time frame from Febuary 1 - Febuary 14; when do you find out if you got accepted to the summer program??
also if anyone has gone to it before, how was it? worth it?

It was a great experience that I would recommend to anyone interested in any academy! I went last summer and had tons of fun! I'm still in touch with my summer seminar squad leader (a current midshipman) and several of the guys from my squad. It was a great opportunity to see the academy grounds and ask a lot of midshipmen who had just finished their Plebe year about academy life. While it probably wasn't a perfect representation of the academy life- it shows some people that they don't want an academy life and others that the academy is a great fit for them.

I don't remember exactly when I got my acceptance but I know that it wasn't that long...I would recommend searching on this forum for a thread about summer seminar- people had posted when they received their acceptance.

Good Luck!

i did a search but couldnt find any information,
do you think i will qualify even if i have the bare minum PSAT scores but am a recruited athlete?

also can u choose which session you attend, because im still in school for session one and session two....

thanks to the people responding to this thread also what are the standard stats for admittance

I'm not sure about the standard stats and it doesn't matter. You should apply and see if you get in. You are able to pick which sessions work for you. Whatever sessions you pick, even if it is just session 3, it won't affect you acceptance.

Definitely, definitely go. It was the best experience of my life. So much fun!!!!! I think I heard that I got in about three weeks after I applied (which I did on the first day).

definitely apply as soon as the app is available (midnight on 1 February) - and make sure to account for the time difference if you're not in the eastern time zone. definitely go if you get in! it was soooooo much fun!

USNA, I HOPE;
just to clarify they give you three options on which sessions to apply to correct?

I sent in my application at 12:58 PM that night :p
I was notified in early March I believe and I thought it was one of the best weeks of my life. Definitely go, especially if you're not sure the Academy is right for you.

Make sure you get physically fit (running and push-ups mainly) before you go, lots of running all week and the CFA is on the first morning, so you want to do good on that.

CFA isn't on the first morning. It was like Tuesday afternoon.

But definitely be in shape.

I also stayed up until 11 (central) waiting to apply for NASS and I heard about March.

what exactly is CFA and what does it do?
also what kind of P/SAT scores did you guys have to be admitted?

I had in 97th percentile and I got National Commended Merit Scholar but don't let that worry you. You definitely don't need that high of a score.

The CFA is the Candidate Fitness Assessment.

USNA Admissions - Preliminary Application Instructions

I was invited to USMA's SLS which was the first time I'd ever heard of this at all. I tried to find out if USNA had anything and registered. I was dang near the deadline, but they ended up accepting me. I don't remember picking a timeslot, they just gave me one. Of course, I don't remember picking my class preferences either, but the classes were exactly what I was interested in (and some other candidates said they picked theirs, so I'm sure I did, too)! lol

I was Session 3 in 2006 and our CFA was the very first morning we were there.

yes - get the recruiting coach involved. apply early and let the coach know you applied.

Ours was, it was on Sunday morning. I was session 1.

I'm pretty sure ours was too, I was in session 2 2007

you choose which session you want, correct?
session one and two are during finals week for me!

you choose a preference then they send you a letter telling you. but im sure you can call and explain the circumstances if it confilcts with school or what not.

Last year I had a conflicting schedule- I told my admissions officer or whoever they tell you to call on the acceptance letter and they said that that was fine!

just thinking about summer seminar makes me want to go back! It really was a fantastic week! Like others have said- its a great chance to show you whether you want the academy or not- I know several die-hard USNA enthusiasts who came back and didn't want USNA anymore, and quite a few people who were only thinking about the academy and came back feeling that they were pretty sure they wanted to go there.
