Summer Senior Year - Jobs

Hey All,

I have about a month before I graduate high school, but I don’t have any real work experience (last summer I was hired by a lab at a local university, but it was part-time for just around a month).

I was hoping to work as a nursing assistant this summer, but I’m having trouble deciding if it is worth the effort since my certification doesn’t come in until mid-May and I will have to stop working by mid-July.

If I find a job somewhere else, I can start working as soon as possible.

Although money is nice-to-have, I am working for the experience, not the money.

I am planning to major in biochem and go to medical school.

My question for CC: Is it worth the hassle to get a job as a nursing assistant this summer? If not, would it look better on future job/college applications to 1) do more research, 2) get a job at a local pharmacy, or 3) get a job at a coffee shop?

Thanks for the help

J

Since you’re already admitted to college, it honestly doesn’t matter what you do with your summer. The job you have your summer before college is probably not even going to fit on your resume by the time you apply to medical schools. Do whatever you want to do, not what looks best.
