Summer Stock Pit Players Needed

The College Light Opera Company, a much-beloved summer stock theater on Cape Cod, in Falmouth, MA, still needs some players for their pit orchestra. They do nine shows over the summer. Room and board are provided, along with a $1500 stipend. This is a fantastic way for players to get an intensive pit-player experience, while making a little money, and living in a seaside vacation locale. Apply to CLOC

If for some reason the portal is closed, reach out and email them directly. I just spoke with someone there who assured me that there were still many open positions.

They also sometimes need substitutes during their season. One of my kids played three shows there one summer. So…get your info to them if you are interested.

To me, it looks like living in the most amazing summer camp for musicians. The actors, musicians, tech staff live in a mansion on an estate, and the beach is nearby. The musicians have a little time off - the actors, none. And after playing 9 shows in 9 weeks, I would imagine that one’s pit playing abilities would be greatly improved.

One of my son’s conservatory friends said, “A summer program where I get paid, that my parents don’t have to pay for???” Yup.

This looks amazing, definitely one of the reasons why woodwind players should learn to double!

That’s interesting…my kid got waitlisted there this year. (percussion)

I suggest you also post this in the internships and career forum. You can say you have my permission to double post.

When I spoke with them yesterday, percussion wasn’t one that they mentioned still needing. I think they said horn, trumpet, clarinet, bassoon, violin, flute. There may be more.

Probably only one percussionist. If they come back to you, it’s a great opportunity, from what I can see.

Usually you need one or two (depending on whether drum kit is needed in addition to percussion). He’d love to do it - if he doesn’t get in he’s most likely going to Berlin for the Opera Academy to play pit.
