Summer vacation, or job/ec/summer academic program?

This may sound like a silly question, but I'm seriously having a hard time deciding whether to go on vacation to Vietnam for 2 months, or stay here and get a summer job, do a summer program or some other EC activities. If it was me this time last year, I would have chosen vacation in a heart beat, but being a sophomore self going into junior year, I realized that I don't have a lot of EC under my belt, so I would like to do something more 'meaningful' than going on vacation. One thing set in stone though, is I will be taking 2 online classes over the summer, but I can do that with any of the option. So what should I do? What would you do?

Is the vacation to visit family in Vietnam? Can you do something productive while you are there (maybe volunteer someplace)?

@intparent yeah it’s to visit family. I’m not sure if there’s any place to volunteer at, but I think I can find one if I search.

Well, try to think about the overall picture. High school is time you won’t get back, so you should probably enjoy your time being young. It’s also important to think ahead because decisions you make do impact your future. Try to decide for yourself what kind of balance you can maintain. You could definitely try to volunteer or maybe do an internship or job shadow in Vietnam. If it’s something you really want to do, don’t pass up the opportunity to go on vacation. You could use some of the time to do something interesting while you’re there, or maybe study for the SATs or something. You’re still taking the classes, so that’s already something productive you’re doing.
