Hey! Really want to learn Arabic! Maybe if there are any study abroad programs for Arabic or maybe US programs for Arabic for high school students?
Or if you know of any year round programs in NJ/NY or maybe through Skype?
I’m really passionate about the language, but finance issues do come up, so I was looking for something cheaper.

JHU-CTY has an online program; it is quite good. (my kid did this)
Additionally, NaTaKallam (started by ColumbiaU grads) offers one-to-one conversation sessions with displaced Syrian refugees around the world (my kid did this and found it quite fulfilling; it also counts a community service). There is a small hourly fee associated; you can buy blocks of time which decreases the cost.
Middlebury has summer sessions (did this, also)
Your local community college may offer classes (my kid also did this, and received college credits)
The US state Dept. also offers summer/semester programs abroads, however, those need applications months ahead and it is very competitive. Also, Quatar offers USA students either the opportunity to study abroad, or USA based scholarships i.e. through Middlebury summer program (again, competitive admissions and need-based)
@momo2x2018 thanks for all the information! Ooh, I absolutely love the Qatar thing! If it’s not too much, would you be able to send me the Qatar study abroad/USA based scholarships? I’m really interested in those!
I don’t know about the universities near you, but a local one hosts a summer camp called VAMPY which is where verbally and mathematically gifted students will go to live on campus for three weeks and study a subject for 8 hours per day, have study hall, eat, etc. Qatar InternationaI provides a scholarship for the program if students want to study Arabic (without, the camp costs a thousand or more dollars). Russian is also offered occasionally in the camp, but without the scholarship. It is something I’ve longed to do, but parent permission and work do not allow.
