I want to do something impressive this summer so I was planning on taking some classes at a college. Unfortunately, the dates don't work out... for any college. I've been looking forever and by now, the best summer plans I can find has been doing an Outward Bound 2 or 3 week trip. Will colleges like that kind of thing?

hard to tell exactly what they'll think, although it can give you great experiences to write about. i did a semester long course with NOLS (the national outdoor leadership school) this past fall semester and it's definitely changed the way i look at things. and i would throw in that you should check out NOLS and seriously consider it, it was amazing. they're kind of like outward bounds' conservative brother, focusing more on giving you the skills to go out and backpack or climb or whatever you're doing on your own afterwards whereas outward bounds is more along the learn to survive in the wild approach.

i'd be glad to tell ya more about NOLS if you want, just pm me
