Summer

I tried joggin in the morning in the winter. Let's just say I came back cold, wet (from being splashed with slush by trucks..oh, and sweating of course), and in a lot of pain (from slipping on ice and falling on my butt). And that's an understatement. Canada's winters suck. Treadmills are a lot easier, but a lot less scenic, I guess.

Oh good. I sometimes get into a mood when I want to feel like a hardcore runner, and it will be nice to have bad conditions to pump up my ego on. ("Give me subzero temperatures, biting wind, and icy surfaces to sweat my way through- I'm still going to run. And I'm going to like it... because I'm that hardcore!") okay, yeah, just trying to convince myself that this is, in fact, a good thing. whatever though, I cross train, so it won't be too much of a problem... treadmill gets too boring, hop in the pool. which, i might add, is very nice.

note: I initially had written "sh|tty conditions", not forgetting about the swearing rule, but forgetting that that particular word was swearing. I don't typically swear, but that one is just integrated into my vocabulary now. I found it extraordinarily amusing to see the little stars and how shocked I was by it.

well i'm going to scratch part of my summer plans. Just had an ACL reconstruction surgery from an unexpected tackle from a friend and ended up in the hospital for 5 days. Gotta keep the physiotherapy going for about 6-9 months.

Was wondering if mcgill or anywhere near the main campus has any physiotherapy facilities? 'O Woe is me!

oh my god that's terrible.

mcgill has ...a lot... of hospitals. you might wanna browse the mcgill university health centre website and etc..

the indoor track at the mcgill gym is good for jogging too. there's a bit of a view..heh..there's these windows that let you see the city... and the view of the athletes playing indoor soccer or tennis (or whatever happens to be going on in the middle of the fieldhouse) is pretty good too ;-)

how is the mcgill gym overall, by the way? i've heard (maybe on cc) that the lines for stuff like cardio machines get to be out of control...

it's by far one of the oldest gym complexes i've ever stepped into.

the new part of tomlinson is nicer...but the old part....errrrrrrr. try looking for the old squash courts and the activity rooms (where they still have some dance classes and etc). they are OLD. the newer part is a lot nicer and it's worth it to pay the $15/semester to use the nicer gym (as in where the machines are). cardio...can get busy on the peak nights. they of course have sign-up sheets on the counter to reserve times on them tho... but if you don't go on a friday night or something then ur fine usually. there's also the old gym machine place and that's....................not so nice. but it gets the job done..?

the first time i walked from the old towards the new (the entrance of the building is in the old side) was the most horribly intimidating walk of my life....in a gym. the complex is kinda confusing so don't just wander if you don't know it too well yet.

btw, in fall...use the tennis courts by mcconnell while it's still good weather!

and if you live in upper rez...............the field by mcconnell's also a great place to smoke hookah (or..other stuff) or etc with friends at night. lights of the city all around and etc... great place heh :-)
