Sunday january testing

Hey. did anyone else on this forum take the sunday testing (january 27, 2013)? Im curious as to which of my sections was the expirimental.
Im assuming that the collegeboard administers different tests on each day as my essay and the essay that everyone posted here were different.

what were your critical reading passages and essay prompt?

My essay prompt was basically: Does pop culture play a big role in the development of young people.
the onlyreading passages i remeber discussed the pros and con of the electoral college.
Did anyone else see these?
I know its not the same as the satuday and i checked and it doesnt match the international ones either.

I took it on Sunday too (religious reasons), I hated that essay cause I couldn’t think of any examples. The electoral college one was difficult for me cause I was running out of time

yeah, i know. I also had to stretch the prompt to its limit to answer it. I used Huck Finn (the affect his society has on him and his strain against that effect) to answer it, and defined popular culture as just the most popular views of that time.
EliteSAT, it seems youre the only other person who took the sunday test here, so ill ask you what you thought of it? For me, the math was tough, (one of the problems was straight up trigonometry, which i thought wasn’t tested on the sat), but i found the critical reading and writing (besides the essay) pretty easy relative to my practice tests.

Hahaahahaah I took it, but it turns out that it was the same exact test as the March 2012 SAT.
Thinking best case scenario
WR: 800
Math: 750
Reading: 760
The only question i thought was really hard was the question regarding the “Argue against change” and “offer a qualification.” I put qualification, and so did others on the March 2012 SAT> Let me know what you guys put!

Hey Sabra! i remember that question, im really not sure, but i also think i put “offer a qualification”. Scores come out in 3 days! Im freaking out!

Woo its great to hear from someone… I’m glad to hear it because I was starting to get worried. I thought that the writing section of the test was really easy but the math was iffy and the critical reading was downright hard. So happy that you think you put qualification! It’s good to hear that… for my essay i wrote a complete 2 pages as well as good examples (facebook and television) so I think I did ok… its my first time taking the SAT so im hoping for 2300+ but will be content with anything over 2250… how about you? what did you think of the test, what the curve will be like, or what scores you want? ALSO! Do you remember what type of experimental section you had? I had writing… thanks!

yeah, I agree with you on the toughness of all of the sections. I breezed through CR, but had some trouble with math and writing. I also got one of the 35-question writing sections as experimental, i think they were 3 and 7. I really have no idea what my score could be- It all matters on how the readers felt while grading my essay and maybe other careless mistakes. Im predicting a 2100-2200. I hope the curve is easy, but looking at the curves for the March 2012 test, it seems pretty harsh. Do you know if they just recycle the old curves, or make new ones for the test?

this is hilarious because this is the exact same question i had two weeks ago when i found out it was the same test. The SAT curve is tricky. While it is partially true that the difficulty of all the questions is assigned prior to the test, THAT ALONE DOES NOT MAKE THE CURVE! The experimental sections are huge parts as well. They definitely don’t recycle curves, so expect something new for this one.
Here are my predictions
-4 (questions)= 760 CR
Math -2= (750)
WR (-3) (questions)= 70

=) OK good, i was freaking out at the old curves. I cant predict the curves at all, it was my first time taking the SAT so i cant compare it to much. Currently Im just spending all of my time praying that i scored well.

Literally… I’m just scared that I made stupid mistakes on Math… especially cuz it has the hardest curve. OMG SCORES ARE UP IN TWO DAYS hahahh wait just to calm me down how confident are you that you put the “qualification” answer

hmmmm… i would say 90%. I remember thinking hard about that question and then putting down an answer, which i think was qualification because the other answer was too strong of a language. That was my thought process. Im waiting up to get my scores, i literally cant wait another minute.

Oh that’s fantastic I really need to have gotten that question right or else my score is going to plummet! Heheheheh I really just want to crack 2250. TONIGHT IT WILL CHANGE TO ONE DAY! Hahhahahahahahah omg i really really really need the answer to have been qualification or else I am screwed… For my essay I talked about facebook and television, and related them to young people and pop culture and I took up the full two pages… do you think that would get a high score? Is it really true that writing a full two page essay guarantees a great score? Do you know anything about it? Do you remember any hard questions? SAY YES AND TELL ME THEM and the answers you put (trying to calm myself down) heheheh thx :)

Lol i dont really remember any hard questions, i pretty much flubbed the essay, i couldnt think of any examples and IM horrible about writing personal experiences, so I ended up twisting the prompt and just interpreting it as the popular culture of the time, not specifically entertainment. Oh well. Well see. Im also freaking out about my scores. Honestly if i get above a 2150 i would be happy enough not to retake it.

Well, i just looked up the term “popular culture” on wikipedia and it’s definition actually fits my interpretation pretty well, so thats some pressure off there. I used as an example Huck Finn, to show how the popular veiws of a culture can affect youth.

That’s great! I’m sure you did fantastically. I registered for the March SAT just in case, seeing that I want to finish this SAT business as soon as possible. I’ll post my score here after its posted, with a detailed breakdown and which ones I think I missed! Do the same too so that we can know what the curve actually was.
Dying! One hour left until it becomes “1 day” omg omg

Lol =) that sounds like a great idea. Ill make sure to post.
And you know youre freaking out to the extreme when youre hyperventilating over when it changes to “1 day left” =)

omg like actually I can’t even function… are you staying up till 2 AM tmrw night? (California time) hahaha I am probably (modern family reruns here I ccome)… ugh the stress is so paralyzing seeing that you think you had the right answers, but you maybe bubbled in something wrong… for me and math I don’t even remember half the questions and its FREAKING ME OUT! HAhahahha as you can tell i am just psycho and need my scores ASAP

Hey guys, I’m new to this forum. I moved to India about a year ago after living for 15 years in USA. Anyway, I took this same test, except it was on the 26th of January for me. And, I was given a prompt regarding whether or not one should change his/her behaviour according to his surroundings. I felt I did ok on the essay, but my concern is that I used examples that are not localized USA. I made sure to give enough detail however, and filled nearly both the pages. The fact that I gave localized example shouldn’t necessarily be a hinderance for my writing score, right? And also, I had a total of four paragraphs. In my third paragraph, I forgot to write the last sentence, will this have a big effect on my score? The rest of my essay is fine. Here is how I felt about the test overall:
Math: Easy Peezy Lemon Squeezy. I’m sure I will get a perfect score
Reading:It was fine. Vocab sections were easier then I expected. Reading Comprehension was also okay, but a few questions were kinda iffy.
Writing:The grammar and writing Multiple choice sections were quite easy as well. I should be getting a perfect score, or at the most, one wrong. As for the essay, well, I’m scared because this is my first SAT test, and I wrote almost two pages, and explained the examples well, but it didnt comeout to be as good as some of the previous essays I had written for high school back in USA.
