@NYdad2014 try choose.albany.edu/your son’s name
That is a link to the perspective students personal page that lists all upcoming events.
Thank you Dim, he just received, 5 min ago, an email from Albany with the address you mentioned.
I appreciate your help
No problem @NYdad2014 …I like the fact that Albany has a page to keep all the events listed for the perspective students. This is our second year considering Albany. Last year it was a close 2nd for my older son who ended up going to Binghamton. Younger son just got deferred but he prefers being in the capital anyway so we will see what happens.

Thank you “dim9798”, last year my older D got accepted to Albany but she did not like the look, and finally opted for Oneonta, she is very happy there. My S on the other hand likes Albany a lot, so to each their own. We live in Poughkeepsie, so Oneonta and eventually Albany will be very convenient for us and them.
BTW Albany was very nice to my S and arranged a chat with a Physic professor who showed him the Labs, it was great. Good luck to your Son,
My son received a letter that he’s automatically in the honors college at UAlbany, no need to apply. Does anybody know anything about the honors program? I know this has been asked on other threads but for some reason there are no responses.
@NYdad2014 I did not receive any additional information besides the admissions letter and deposit paper either. They normally send more communication with the student after submitting the deposit and as it gets closer to the May 1st deadline to submit deposit. If he likes the school don’t let him not getting a few additional pieces of paper discourage him from attending. I felt a similar way when other schools I was accepted to were sending me folders with information, but I still love Albany and it is at the top of my list. Just waiting on a few more schools!
Dim,
If you google suny albany honors college, there is alot of info on the program. I did research on the program. My son is still in high school, but I wanted to learn about the program. It is a nice program. You get to dorm with the honors students. I believe the dorm is a bit quieter than the other dorms. You get to have more personal interaction with the professors. Smaller class sizes as well.
The few things that I do not like about the program, but this is at all honor colleges are the following.
First, I believe you have to do a thesis on a research topic. Now, my son is no Hemmingway. There is no way he is doing a thesis. Yes, if you are going for your doctorate then yes, it is worth it. But if you are majoring in lets say accounting, the program is rigorous enough without having to do a thesis!!
Second, I think that the honors courses are more rigorous. Again, with my son wanting to go for accounting, I believe he will be challenged enough. Does he really need to take an honors philosophy course, or a honors economics course? I would not risk the hit to the gpa. Now, some students eat this up, and love this. This is not honors in high school, it is college, so my theory is major in whatever you want to major in, get the highest gpa you can, and then go on to grad school or whatnot. I do not think an employer or a grad school will give an honors college alot of wiggle room if you get a 3.0 rather than a 3.4 etc. That is my opinion, but I may be wrong.
All in all, it is a very nice program, do not get me wrong. I just think that depending on the major one has, is it worth putting oneself through all of that… It is not as though you get a 5000.00 bonus for attending the honors college.
Anyway, that is my take, but look it up on the internet, you will find alot of info about it on the suny albany website.
Thank you @NickDGonzalez actually after I posted he received an email from Albany with his personal page, access to facebook, so much better. Most likely he will go to Albany

I also was sent a letter asking me to apply to the Honors College, but I am not sure that I want to do that.
@JustaGemini congratulations! If you get invited to scholar day in the beginning of March (which I am positive you will be) I suggest you attend that. It is a great day and will help you see what the school has to offer you.
Good luck to you!
@dim9798 Thank you! I just got that invitation in the mail. Hopefully I can go.
I just got accepted to Albany last week for regular decision. I had gotten the decision in the mail, but it didnt say anything about scholarships. How do I find out if I got any scholarship money?
@Hasmeet1998 My son was informed of his scholarship money in his acceptance letter.
My son got accepted in mid January. His acceptance letter had the scholarship info in the letter.
My son is choosing between Bing and UAlbany. Is your older son happy at Bing? Bing did not give us merit aid. UAlbany did.
@Hellothereyou my son is extremely happy in Binghamton. Bing did not give him a merit scholarship and it killed me for him to give up the $4300 per year scholarship that UALBANY offered, him but we decided that it had to be his choice because he had to be happy (and I didn’t want to be blamed if he wasn’t happy. .lol) He definitely made the right decision for himself, as I said he loves it and he told me he has never looked back…good luck to your son!
Thanks. We are in the same boat! Your feedback is appreciated.
