My son got into Albany with presidential scholarship as well… probably beginning of January he heard. He applied regular decision to both Binghamton and Albany but we haven’t heard from Binghamton yet. Does Binghamton just mail out acceptances or do they alert you by email or the portal?

@kristi4806 My son is in the same boat. He applied back in November with his school sending out the transcript in mid December. He applied all regular decision and has heard back from 3 schools but is waiting on 3 others, all SUNY. I was surprised that he got the Albany Presidential scholarship.
He just got invited to the Scholars day… I thought it just was a scholarship opportunity… Does the presidential scholars put him in the Honors college? and if so, is there any special perks at Albany for them?
@kristi4806 From what I know all students have the option to apply to the honors college. You can research info on tgr honors college, requirements, deadlines, etc on the UALBANY website…just type in honors college. Some students receive notification that they are automatically admitted to the honors college and that they don’t need to apply.
so i wonder what the difference between “scholar” day and regular decision admitted students day?
@kristi4806 we went to scholar day last year with son # 1 and we are going this March with son # 2. Scholar day is for the students who recieved scholarships and who will most likely have the opportunity to join the honors college. The day is full of information for those students and if your child is considering joining the honors college I highly recommend scholar day.

@SUNYJMM Hi I was wondering if you are in the honors college at UAlbany? I’ve read all the info on the website and we are attending scholars day next month. From what we read about it my son is very interested in the program but I would love to get a students perspective . This question has been asked on many threads but for some reason there aren’t any responses. Thanks!

@cantwait100 I was recently accepted and I applied as undecided. I probably want to study business though. On the Albany website it says that you can be a business major after your sophomore year. But My question is will I be spending 2 years taking general ed courses before I can take any business courses? Or do they let you take some intro courses before actually being a “Business major”?
My son was admitted two weeks ago after being deferred. He loved it! Cant wait!
londonfab5 - when was your son deferred? when did he apply? D is still waiting for a decision and she applied in November, just after EA deadline.
@sosoyumi @daddyoffour When do you receive a packet? I got accepted with a regular letter which had details of how to submit deposit, then today i got a pamphlet with some more information. Never got a packet or anything or folders like most schools give.
Just to close the loop, my S paid the deposit to Albany yesterday, and applied to Honors College (will see the outcome). He visited Albany 3/11 on the Scholars day (he got a nice scholarship) and the time he spend with Physics professors (his main interest) and CS+Mathematics (2nd interest) plus the research and Honors presentation and the panel of current students really sold it to him. Very good job by the Albany admission team.
