just curious to see how life is like at Binghamton: meeting new people/making new friends, clubs, sports, night life/partying, etc.
Hey, I went to Binghamton. The consensus seems to be that there’s a pretty friendly scene. There are plenty of clubs and opportunities to meet people. Everyone I knew was involved in at least a few things. Sports, not so huge. We’re definitely not a rah rah school and there’s no football team. A lot of people choose to go downtown on the weekends where there are bars and frat parties, but there’s also stuff going on around campus.
Depends. It is a great fit for some students but it might not be the best fit for everyone. It is a great choice if you have a lot of people from your high school also coming to bing or you have friends from summer camp or something that are also attending binghamton. Binghamton is a diverse campus so if you are a member of a minority group there are plenty of clubs for you to join if you want to meet people from the same background as yourself. Binghamton also has a really large and vibrant jewish community. It is a good school if you are a “hippy” or are into outdoor activities like hiking or snowboarding since there is a community for that. There is a nightlife that centers around downtown. You can join a fraternity or sorority but they are not as big of a deal at binghamton as they are in other schools. Socially Binghamton can be a cliquey and people tend to stay the same groups from freshman year to graduation which is a downside for some.
