<p>Does anyone know any information about SUNY Geneseo? Academics, student body, political leanings, town, etc.</p>

90.5 uw/91.9 w, 4 APs, 1440 SAT</p>
<p>Accepted: SUNY Binghamton (reallly disliked it when I visited, I really want something smaller)</p>
<p>Also Applied: Skidmore, Colgate, Bard, Oberlin, Connecticut College, University of Rochester</p>
<p>I'd do anything to go to Skidmore, but unfortunately they barely give any aid whatsoever. I'm afraid that all of the schools I applied to other than the two SUNYs just wont work out financially, leaving me to decide between Binghamton and Geneseo. Because of my severe dislike of Binghamton, what information can you all provide me with Geneseo?</p>
<p>Can't tell you specifically about Geneseo. I graduated SUNY Oswego- Husband went to SUNY Albany and we toured several SUNY campuses with our kids. I understand SUNY Geneseo has become extremely selective but no one can figure out why. We "SUNY graduates" from a generation or two ago are somewhat amused and bewildered why this particular campus has become "so hot". So if anyone knows why, I'd be curious as to the reasons. I'm also somewhat familiar with U. of Rochester (as my older daughter applied there) which I think is a fabulous school. It is somewhat generous with financial aid. If you are NY state resident (and I assume you are) and good SAT grades, which you have--they generally reduce your tuition by $10,000. It is still going to cost more than SUNY schools, but it does become more affordable than the other private schools listed. Good luck. PS . Most State U's are in small -unexciting-locations. Trust me- I spent 4 years in Oswego and saw Brockport-Oneonta and some other campuses. If you're lucky, the town would have a Wal-Mart. I don't want to sound snobbish, but that is the reality of a lot of upstate towns. I have a feeling, Geneseo is not too different.</p>
<p>Hi! I just read some of your other posts. I think you might really like U of Rochester. It's a lovely campus and the undergraduate enrollment is around 5,000. It has a feel of a LAC as it is not an overwhelmingly large campus. You of course have to check it out-but please give it serious consideration as I think you might like it. Good luck</p>
<p>thanks alot marny! My one concern about UR is that everyone there is a math or science major. Is this true? I'm not sure what im interested in right now, but I know i'd rather not be in a place with a very clear scientific bend.</p>
<p>Ok. Not an expert on U of R- but I know they're good in the social sciences too-economics-psychology/cognitive science etc. They're also affiliated with the Eastman School of Music. Friends son attends U of R. He's majoring in philosophy and religion (I think). He's also taking courses at Eastman as he is a good musician. U of R students may have to audition to take courses at Eastman but I know the opportunity is there. I don't know what your educational goals are, but please check U of R website as it might really meet your needs. Let me know what you think. Marny</p>

other than the snow, rochester sounds like a great choise! Do you know anything about the political feelings of the students? One thing that really made me love skidmore was the liberal"ness?" of the student body.</p>
