SUNY Morrisville

We have been visiting colleges with equine science programs, and our daughter narrowed it down to Delaware Valley,Suny Cobleskill and Suny Morrisville. We really liked the presentation that Morrisville gave us so far. Since then we've been hearing things about crime at Morrisville from other people, but no specifics. Does anyone have any info about Morrisville or any of the other colleges?

I know that Morrisville shows up at our major horse show each year with their 6 (or maybe 8) Belgian draft horse driving team. They exhibit in several classes and usually do very well. It is very impressive for a college program and I guess it must be supported by the college financially, as that is a very expensive project. Not knowing what area of equine science your daughter is most interested in, have you looked at Centenary College in NJ?

My friends D is going to Morrisville in the fall for equine science. I have not heard anything about a high crime rate there. It is pretty rural anyway isn't it? What kind of crimes are we talking about? Rumbles between rival driving teams? FFA milk-off's gone awry? Sorry, I am a little loopy today...

D is interested in theraputic riding. She's talked to a friend who is currenty going to another Suny, and she heard of a shooting awhile back, which is why she didn't go to Morrisville. Other than these "rumors" the campus is quite nice and the teachers we talked to were very encourging. MomOf3Stars, thats just what I thought of when I saw the little town of Morrisville, it's not like it's surrounded by a big city!

ladyh ~ I sent you a PM.

My concern with SUNY Morrisville (and to a lesser extent Cobleskill) would be the relative lack of options if your D decides to major in something other than equine science or other agricultural programs. I know no one plans on changing their majors, but I honestly can only think of one person who never changed their major in college--just something to think about...

I have a good friend who graduated from Morrisville and she is a CPA. I'm sure there are other majors there. She loved it!
