I am required to contribute around $19k per year during my undergraduate study in the university. Because I have been told that the scholarship awarded to me is the maximum aid provided to anyone, and SUNY plattsburgh is my first priority, what other scholarship opportunities are present to reduce the cost after I enroll at the university? My major is physics(engineering). However, I am planning to change it to Undecided.
My older son graduated form SUNY Plattsburgh as a Physics major and had an excellent experience. The professors took a personal interest in him. He went to several national physics conferences and made presentations. He graduated and is in grad school with full tuition plus a stipend.
As for additional scholarships once you are attending Plattsburgh, he did not receive any extra scholarships. His overall GPA was 3.72. You could become a Teaching assistant for one of the lab classes or a Residence Hall Assistant and receive extra money. I remember they do give small scholarships for participating in a music ensembles after an audition and there is a small community service scholarship.
Son did tutor: calculus, math and physics and made extra money that way.
