SUPA or AP?

So my school offers SUPA United States History and AP United StatesHistory… Not sure what to do because my schedule is pretty rigorous…

SUPA is Syracuse University Project Advance that gives six credits if you pay a certain amount (like $600+, I forgot the actual price) and AP that only has a fee of $94 for three credits based on a final test. There is no final test to get the six credits for SUPA, you just need a C average to get the credits.

If anyone would help that would be great.

APs are well known by all colleges.

For SUPA, would your grade count toward your college GPA? Even if you got a C, you would get credit, but would that be counted in your college GPA or just HS?

Is SUPA the equivelent of two college courses or 1? If two, then would it be more intensive than AP USH?

If you do SUPA, make sure you keep a copy of the syllabus so when you are trying to transfer credits you have it to show your college who will decide if you get the credits.

My daughter did the IB diploma but also took a Project Lead the Way course and got credit for it through RIT.

I would also talk to your GC and History teacher and see what they think.

If SUPA offers six credits, then it most likely is the equivalent of two college classes (College US History 1 and US History 2 at 3 credits each; at least that’s the way it is in my state).

In-state, both programs would likely be very attractive to college admissions, but out-of-state, I’m sure APUSH would be more desirable due to its well-known reputation.

If you feel as if there’s a chance that you will even pass the AP US History exam, I would go for APUSH.
