what is AA? can someone tell me?

one more thing, i live in Canada so i'm wondering what's 90% in GPA and is 80%+ considered an A in us?

AA is african american and i dunno abt the gpa thing

in america an A is generally above 90%. at my school 90-94 is an A- and 95-100 is an A. but colleges know that canadian schools rarely give out grades of above 90% so you should not be worried. if you are at the top of your class, that's all that matters.

Side note, somewhat random: There are some incredible schools on that fairtest list.

I'm the same as you! Well the high GPA, low scores.

That has been worrying me about getting into the schools I want to also.

However, I think it's alright because a 1960 is not too bad and if your GPA, extra activities, and essays are good...then that should be fine.

"^^go look at the college admissions thread for AA and look at the actual results thread, there are many AA w/ great scores

this is why im nervous, as im competing against other AA in the ivy league, im hoping my high gpa and other activities make up for my low sats and show that i am capable of handle their rigourous education"

Admittly there are a lot of high scoring minorities on CC, but CC is not indicative of the overall applicant pool and represents those that usually have a very legit chance of getting in. Which is why those AA who posted in the AA college results thread were accepted to top schools, bc likely they are at the top of ANY applicant pool, so add being black and it surely helps in admission.
Something else to note (though it is a bit discouraging) is that top students apply to top schools, so the blacks that are applying are qualified more than likely.

bump, .........

Just go take the ACT. I bet you'll be pleasantly surprised.
