Super Undecided! Marine Bio Undergrad....

I'm a transfer student currently in a California Community College. I have a pretty good GPA and know that I can get into any of these schools but I'm having a hard time deciding which one might be the best for me. If by any chance I got into all of them, I wouldn't know where to go! So, after a lot of researching I have narrowed it down to 5 possible Universities....

UC San Diego

UC Santa Barbara

UC Santa Cruz

University of Southern California (USC)

University of San Diego (San Diego State University)

All of which are amazing schools and have great programs related to my major. It's so hard to choose though! Any thoughts on any I should rule out? (or should give priority to)
I know there are tons of factors that come into play but for now I'd appreciate some insight into these campuses (Living there, community, opportunities, etc.) I know the price difference between them but I'm not taking that into account at the moment. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.....

Thank you! =)

Those are all excellent choices, however number six, is listing two different schools USD is a private school and SDSU is a public Cal State. That being said, you will receive a great education at all of these schools, so I would suggest visiting them to get the feel of the school.

They are all fine schools but, transfering into a high demand program in a high demand school is tough to predict - even with a great GPA. Many schools offer preference to local students so, I would encourage you to broaden your pool a bit. Seriously, add a safety school or two… Lots of people with solid GPAs are getting locked out of the schools you list.

Apply to a bunch of schools. Narrow it down after they accept you.

You might also consider adding Humboldt and Cal Poly SLO to your list, they have good marine bio programs. I read an article about Marine bio programs and remember Santa Cruz was the highest rated in California and most of the schools in Hawaii were all quite high in the list. NCalRent is correct about applying to more schools, admissions are very unpredictable these days.

I totally thought they were the same one! Thank you for clarifying =)

Awesome! Will do, I’ve been to Humboldt and it’s really amazing. Still have to check out Santa Cruz, but I’ve heard it’s amazing!
I’ve actually been to USC already and I’m going to check out UCSD and San Diego State University next week. I’ll check out the rest of the schools before transferring.
Thank you for your input.
