Superscoring across tests from schools that drop the essay

My understanding (though perhaps i’m wrong on this) is that schools would/will only superscore across like tests. For example they would take the best scores from two ACTS with writng, but not from one test with writing and one test without.

Now that many schools (most recent Princeton and Stanford) are dropping the writing requirement, will they superscore from both tests with writing and without?

Anyone have information on this?

Some schools super score, others do not. Many of the schools on my daughters’ list said they would super scored her ACTs and one was with the essay and the other without. None of those schools required the essay though.

My understanding was that “not super scoring from different test” was related to the old and new formats. This last graduating class had old and new SAT options depending on when they sat for the tests.

Thanks.
