Superscoring--exactly how does it work?

I was hoping that someone on here definitely knows how super-scoring works if you don’t take the SAT w/ essay one of the times. The first SAT I took was WITH essay and I got a 1450 and 6/6/6. However, on the June SAT, I took the SAT WITHOUT the essay and got a 1520. How would this work? If the college requires the essay, would they see the best score i got that had the essay or would they see 1520 and 6/6/6?

@happy1 thank you, but that doesn’t answer my question. I understand how general superscoring works, I was asking if it makes a difference across the 2 different versions of the SAT

I imagine it would be up to the individual college, but the schools I have looked into do not superscore using sections from both the old and new versions of the SAT.

You’ll have to contact each college for a definitive answer. However, when this question has been posted in the past, the general consensus was that if a college requires the writing portion they will likely not look at any of the subscores of the SAT without writing.
