Superscoring Questions + Essay questions

The November SAT results are out and I’m planning on taking the test again to see if I can improve. When I got my score, I was given a score out of 40 points for reading, math and writing (as well as the # of correct and incorrect). I got nearly 40 points in the writing section of the score, however did not do as well on the reading. I’d like to not have to study the writing again, and want to know if colleges only “superscore” the score out of 800, or will they take the highest score out of 40 that a student is able to achieve, and then generate the /800 score from that.

Also, is it possible to “superscore” the scores out of 8 that I received for the essay. Also, what are some good resources to use to see if my scores on the essay were good enough, so that I can not retake the essay during the next test, if I am happy with my essay scores.

I’m wondering the same about reading and writing superscores.

Apparently I’m pretty sure you cannot superscore the scores out of 8 you received for the essays. I inferred this from how the common app is structured. I’m pretty sure the college will just look at your total essay score.

There is no super-scoring parts of the sections. Your Reading+Writing & Language is one score and your Math is one score and your essay is one score. It is possible to mix and match those 3 scores, but you can’t break them down into smaller parts.

Honestly, we will never know what the Colleges do with the scores, and this is doubly true this year because of the new structure of the test. I am afraid you must do your best on all sections of the test each time you are taking it.
