Hey, I've got some common sense questions. I've been told that I severely lack it (common sense, I mean) so I'm going to ask for some advice here.

Are the "Possible Topics" possible in that we have to pick one of them; or possible in that they are prompts, but that we can just write about anything as long as its good?

Also, do you guys think that a narrative sort of essay about something that happened in a trip could qualify for the "Travel or living experiences in other countries." prompt? This question sounds really dumb, but the thing is that although my essay makes references to the place that I was visiting (the Yangtze River, China) it mainly focuses on the event itself (a talent show) and on my academic interests (poetry, literature).

I have a good essay that I could put there, but I didn't know whether they would frown upon the fact that it doesn't immediately relate to the "possible topics". Maybe I'm being paranoid, but I was thinking that they would assume that I wrote it for another college, and recycled it.

I have a similar concern. I know the topics are 'possible' topics... would writing about how my hobby of sailing has largely defined me as a person be an acceptable topic?
