I know the supplement says 500 words max, but mine is around 630 and I can't figure out what to cut. Is going over the max really bad?

130 words over the limit is a lot. I would say definitely try to get it under 600. When they say 500 max, they mean 500 max. I can understand maybe 50 words over, but when you're over 100 over it's not going to look good since you're not respecting their guidelines.

Thanks...I think I know how to shorten it now. There was a point that I really wanted to get across, but maybe I'll write a cover letter to my resume and mention it there. Is it ok to use a cover letter?

Good idea to use a cover letter.

Thanks again, I think I'll do that! Down to 542!!

I know I went off topic but I really need to ask this question. Is it okay if I submit the same supplement essay for engineering and medical? The two essays are not exactly the same, but they’re really similar and they works for both departments because I’m applying to biomedical engineering and medical.

what in the hell are you talking about, Omegaz?
