Supplement

The supplement asks weird questions: Whats the significance of: the last four books you read? the class that you find most challenging?

yea i know.. wtheck with the supplement.

From my point of view, the reason they ask these questions is to get a new perspective of the prospective student. They just want to know if you'll fit in - which is essentially the point of the admission process.

so are there recommended answers?

lol im putting harry potter.. just kidding!

Do we need title and author.. or just title?

I just put a range of the last four books I'd read... a couple were serious, more English-class-y books, one was the crap fantasy that I usually read, and I think that the last was The Phantom Tollbooth. :D If you want to see crazy questions, look at USC's application. They ask about your favorite music group and movie, which later they use in interviews, if you are considered for scholarships.

what supplement?

CMU's supplement to the common application... it has a few random questions and another essay, I believe.

you guys. i remember the supplement. Its designed to give them a look at who you are as a rounded individual. don't try to be fake on it by putting down that you read dickens and chaucer. actually, you might really want to put what you HAVE read recently. its designed for them to see what you're all about. My advice: if you like harry potter, use it as one book, and then try to come up with three other eng books youve read lately. also, be as descriptive and detailed as possible. use author and title, and reference other books. thats what i did on one of mine last year. be creative, and use these questions as a way for them to see who you really are without having them actually SEE you... make an impression.! good luck! :)
