Supplementary Letters of Rec.

<p>Do they REALLY help? Like, say you get one from the professor you researched with or the doctor you shawdowed or anything like that...will it REALLY give you an edge on other applicants?</p>

<p>Do admissions officers get annoyed if you have like one or two extra recommendations?
I read somewhere(in one of those college application books that you can find at Barnes and Nobles) that a "thicker file" shows that the applicant has less confidence in his/her own abilities and sending extra recs weighs you down...is this true?</p>

<p>i think one or two extra recommendations can be useful if they really add something new to the file that is really worthwhile and positive. Otherwise, if they repeat what has already been said, then the admissions committee probably does get annoyed. Probably though, you should not have any more than 2 extra recommendations</p>
