Supplementary Rec: Problem

I had a person send a supplementary recommendation to a few schools, that I now looking over it would deem as not being a very good letter of recommendation, not in terms of the intent but in terms of the writer's care and detail in the letter. Will this sink me, or will the adcoms hopefully just ignore it, or just take the good points from it? I'm really worried about this.

There's not much value in worrying about things you cannot change. The letter is positive, after all, and is only one piece of your total application. No point in fretting about it now. I'm pretty certain things will work out the same for you with this version of the letter or a somewhat better version with more detail.

But, golly, you are in that uncertain time now with applications in and quite a period of time before you get decisions. The anxiety will quiet down in a couple weeks, but it will still be hanging there until you start hearing back from colleges. Don't feed the beast though by over-thinking every little thing... especially because there's nothing to do about it now.

Apps are in. Relax for a bit. Enjoy the rest of high school.

I have the same problem, is it possible to ask the college to disregard that part of the application? All of my colleges only need 1 teacher rec and 1 councelor rec, but I sent 2 teacher recs and 1 counselor rec. So can I ask them to ignore 1 of the teacher recs because I think that it might hurt my chances of getting in?

I would leave it alone. Honestly, if one is rec is outstanding, that will pull the weight. I had two great recs sent to my ED school. (Rejected) and only one sent to my second choice school...got in. Its really about your total package and what the school is looking for.

lol ^ way to comment on something from december.

but yeah i agree, dont worry!
