Surprised by school list of DD's friend

Oh, sorry, Ohiomom--not an intentional slight! I do know it's OSU; don't know why I typed it that way (and condolences on the game last night.)

garland - actually, I prefer Ohio University to OSU ....

The game last night was pretty sad, though - only watched part of it!

Informational question to Ohioans - how selective is OSU for OOS?? I thought that might be some of the concern about the kid in the OP, that the only safety was an OOS school??

cangel
I don't believe its all that selective for high stats OOS kids - nothing like UVA, anyway. It should be a good likely. What I am not sure of are the financial aspect - eligibility for scholarships and so on. There is also the issue of the instate / OOS tuition difference.

"There are LOTS of kids with stats that say "Harvard" who do not get into Penn."

^^ We know one: close family friend. Got into H; double legacy at UPenn, but was rejected from Penn. (Did not, as you note, apply ED; did have on-campus interview -- but there is another myth that the "privilege" of an on-campus inteview -- which Penn extends only to legacies -- will position the student better for acceptance.) She had a horrible on-campus one @Penn, a great off-campus one from Harvard. You can guess where she is now.
