I’ve been thinking about putting together some sort of website specifically concerned with international admission to US universities. Since it’s such a confusing process, it would be convenient to have the answers to the most commonly asked questions collected in one place–CC is great for getting information, but some of the more general questions keep coming up again and again.

There would be sections about general topics from an int’l perspective, such as academics, ECs, and filling out the application, but also int’l-specific advice, about types of visas, coping without financial aid, and essay writing for non-native English speakers.

Do you think that such a resource would be useful?

If yes, what sort of things would you include?

thisyearsgirl, thank you for taking the initiative. I have tried about the same thing but without investing very much interest in it - see the International Student Wiki. I also found out in the process that wikipedia would not host such a guide. Certainly this resource would be helpful and most likely it would spark some interest if it's done right. Count me in for contributions!
About what sort of things it could include, you can find my opinion on the "Internarional student wiki" thread (the "internarional" was a typo, of course)

bogororo: Thanks for your reply; I'll look up the thread you mentioned. Having successfully gone through the process, I'm sure you have lots to contribute. :)

I'm only a high school junior, but I go to an international school in the US and have the benefit of an int'l-friendly counseling office, as well as a first-hand understanding of the US system. Most students in other countries don't have the same resources, and together with extensive research, it's something I could share.
