Suspension and 1.6 help ?

Hello, I’ll keep it short. I am on academic probation. I had to get a tonsillectomy. I have been going through complications and developed a stomach illness. I could not finish my classes in person. All my teachers agreed to allow me to finish classes online except for one teacher. On my academic probation contract with my school it says I must pass every class. I’m going to pass every class except that one class. I want to attend another school. Should I apply now ? My only problem would be that my gpa is low. Or should I apply after I get my grades back and on suspension ?

Your chances of getting accepted at another school is pretty low, unless it is a school that accepts everyone. I would stay where you are and try and get your GPA up first. Next time, have better communication with your advisor. Had she/he known about your procedure, you might have received accommodations, or at least been advised to withdraw from the class.

You have serious medical issues. Tlak with your advisor and with the dean of students. Find out if you can get a medical withdrawal from this class. That would be better than failing it.

Your advice is perfect. Just see if you can go on medical leave for a semester or something.

Is this in the right forum? Is OP asking about admissions or is a current college student?

If it’s college, we’re in 2nd semester. The 1.6 and probation are not about failing one class. OPis in a deeper pickle than that.

No, you likely won’t have transfer opportunities with a 1.6 and probation status.

I think some vital info is missing here.

You have to stay until your GPA gets back to a 2.+ Or transfer to the community college nearest your home.

Sounds like the OP was on probation as a result of last semester’s grades of 1.6 and now is worrying about this semester, which has been impacted by illness. Agree that you should be talking to academic advisor especially about getting W from the class that will end with the worst grade. Will your remaining grades this semester bring your GPA above 2.0?
